Today I was volunteering at a post office. A man in an old jacket with uncombed hair came to the counter. He had a wallet in his hand, and put it on the counter. He told me: 1 S# c2 V7 ]2 C4 v! f O/ Y) k8 s' |
"I am going to send it back".
" P% r+ Y A( i8 A/ ^1 d. a8 }7 RI did not understand what he meant by "it", because usually people would send a letter or a parcel back to the sender, and I did not see he had any of those. So I asked him:

He said, "the Wallet, I am sending back the wallet." Then he added: "I am going to pay the postage." $ S6 b) ]% u8 O" T0 [

"Yes, I did."

He took the ID card from the wallet, and showed me the address of the loser of the wallet. I saw there were several one-hundred bills in the wallet. 1 D; h& s" y$ r- f* a
"Are you going to take some money from the wallet to pay the postage?"

. G% f F3 Y9 n! CI gave him a bubbled envelope, and instructed him where to write the addresses. He wrote the owner's address, but stopped at writing a return address. He asked:2 k3 F0 C9 I8 X/ ?: T

"Yes, you may." I thought he must want to be a nameless hero. But he said:

My heart had a sudden jump. I realized that this is a homeless man who found money but was sending it back to the person who lost it.
9 T! j8 d9 b- r0 f0 vHe did not a posses a home, but he had a big heart. He had the precious fortune of being a man of integrity.
